how to pick a new cell phone

OKAY. So I've been getting some concerned comments and questions about my "obsession" over my upcoming phone (the droidx). People are like "what? you made a model of it? that's weird..." or "you preordered it? you couldn't wait a couple of days?" blah blah and so on.

But believe me, after using the blackberry storm, which is arguably the worst touch screen phone ever (suretype was a terrible idea, seriously i went through 3 storms) i realized that researching into a new phone is crucial. You're basically going to be in a 2 year relationship with it so you want to be SURE you pick the absolute best.

This next part is going to be extremely nerdy so unless you like reading about a bunch of numbers and abbreviations that really don't make increase your quality of life in any way, i suggest you go to this webstie instead. www.homestarrunner.com, and if you do like nerd stuff then www.xkcd.com

So why i'm going with the droidx.

1) it's for verizon, i'm on the family plan so i kinda just have to stick with verizon until my dad or sister decides they want something cheaper

2) Android OS (2.2 and rumored 3.0 this winter) an open source OS is every nerds dream. Especially on a phone like the droidx which has wifi and is gps aware. Plus rooting (jailbreak for apple users) is also an option if you want to tether the phone

3) Droid legacy. The original droid had done a lot of game changing in the cellphone industry. First it brought back a dying cellphone company (motorola), integrated an open source app store with independent developers and it brought google and verizon together in a beautiful way. Not only that but the droidx uses the nextgen 1ghz processor and an upgraded 512 ram. it runs amazingly smooth on the 2.1 but after it upgrades to frozo, it will look amazing. and if the rumored gingerbread 3.0 comes out, the droidx will be unstoppable.

4) you can hold it anyway you want

anyways i just wanted to post this so that anyone who's like "aren't you a little crazy about this cellphone stuff?" the answer is yes and no. yes, sometimes i wish i was ignorant of all this technology, it would save me a lot of time and money. but no because if i'm going to use this crap everyday of my life, i want to make sure i'm getting something i can live with and not want to throw it on the ground every time i try to make a call.

peace and loves homies
