Testing the limits

I think florists have the weirdest jobs in the world. In some ways they're basically contracted killers, hired to kill flowers and hang them up for display.

Last weekend I had a last minute wedding (literally called me the morning of and asked if I could come). I wasn't doing anything that day so I went, and I'm glad I did. Although it was overcast it was a great wedding out on a beach in Malibu.

This was probably the smallest wedding I have ever done.

The next day I had a wedding with these beautiful koreans.

During the reception there was a slideshow and it was pitch black in the room. So I thought it would be a great opportunity to test the limits of my camera.

Remember the room is pitch black and we don't use any flash in our photography. This picture was taken at ISO 25600 at 1/100 of a second with the 5d MII and 70-200 2.8 IS II. I try never to shoot above ISO 5000 and I'm pleasantly surprised at how the picture came out. There is a lot of noise but after 1 pass through noise ninja i'll have a usable picture.

The last picture we were testing the limits of the camera, in this picture I wanted to test the limits of my lens. The 70-200 2.8 IS II is supposed to have an amazing image stabilizer, and it did not disappoint. In this picture I was able to push down the ISO to 3200 and my shutter speed was at 1/10 of a second. I got this shot on my first attempt and it is amazingly sharp and detailed at such a slow shutter speed. Even as people were moving and laughing the lens still got the shot.

I'm going kayaking on weds, I'm debating on whether or not to take my camera. I might just stick my dslr in a zip lock back and hope I don't fall in the water.
Thanks for stopping by!
